whats the problem here?

"Superficiality is the curse of our age. The doctrine of instant satisfaction is a primary spiritual problem. The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people."
Richard Foster - Celebration of Discipline (1978)

How far have we progressed in 30 years Richard?

I love Foster, and I don't think that we have come that far in 30 years. (I didn't realize how old that book was).

I asked the minister of education at my old church about doing some authentic one on one discipleship. I told him how I ached for some real mentorship. He replied that they were going to start a new Bible study on Sunday Nights, and maybe I would like that. GRRR! I didn't want another bring your workbook and watch a video experience!

Sidenote: I have met Richard Foster's assistant. They were doing research in our library on a new series of books coming out. So I shot ole' Richard an email about how much his book impacted my life. Does that make me cool?
